Kawasan Falls

On the island Cebu there is on the south-west side of the island close to Matutinao inside the mountains surrounded with tropical vegetation the freshening, cool and crystal clear Kawasan Falls. I’m sure these are the most beautiful and attractive waterfalls from Cebu. The natural pools are on three terraces connected by waterfalls. Inside the pools you can take a real good swim. There are also Cottages beside the falls which can be rented for approx. 100 to 250 P. Drinks and simple foods can be bought right there.

You can reach the falls from Cebu City with a bus. There are daily buses at 6.00, 7.00, 8.00, 11.00, 13.30, 14.00 and 15.00 o’clock to Bato via Argao, Dalaguete, Mainit and Liloan. The buses at 7.00 and 14.00 goes probably along the west coast via Moalboal and San Sebastian.

The ones who want to stay directly at the Kawasan falls should stay first in Moalboal and make a day trip to the falls, because it could be that the cottages are full. Maybe the German Heraldo could help. He enjoys his live in a paradise close to the Kawasan Falls.

From Moalboal to Matutinao there are Jeepneys or buses. During the daytime it is no problem; just on the afternoon could be a problem to find a vehicle who drives one back to Moalboal. But you could also ask a Tricycle driver for a Special Ride. The driver brings you there, accompanies you to the falls and brings you also back. For that you should spend not more than 150-250 P.

In Matutinao you should go out of the vehicle at the church and take the path along the little river which comes out of the mountain. Entrance fee is 10 P. The way alone is worth seeing, it goes through the mountains and under beautiful trees. To wear good shoes is a good suggestion, because it could be slippery on the way.
